AGM Presentation from Adam
Last week we held our annual AGM...
...and whilst the minutes from which will be available from your committee I wanted to email out the presentation I gave at the end. This will serve to remind those who came what I said - but also give those who were not able to attend the chance to view the information.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read the following, now rather than dwelling on the terrible weather over the last 3 months I wanted to remind you of the positives from the past 12 months.
Club house
· Epos system installed as requested by members
· Club house renovations
· New bar installation
· Flooring fixed in side the club house
· New carpet throughout
· New café floor
· Toilet floors replaced
· Kitchen floor replaced
We also have the painter booked again for March to come and freshen everywhere up again, general clubhouse areas, toilets (gents’ new urinal to go in), ladies
Kitchen
Along with the new flooring installed the following has also been bought,
· 2 x fridges
· Panni machines
· Flat top grill
· Stainless steel table
· General cosmetic work
The above work often goes un seen, however the result is the club house now regained our 5 Star rating from the local council.
Furthermore, Mathew and I have been working on redesigning a new menu which will be ready for the start of the main season. New food options from locally sourced produce will see us raise the bar on what we offer to members and non members.
We have set ourselves the target of increasing our outside catering. Talks are currently under way with local business for us to supply their catering needs. Extra revenue generated will be a great help to the club, especially at times of the year when business is affected by bad weather.
Course
· New machine for the tees & surrounds
· Deck for rough cutting overhauled with new blades and gearbox
· 3 bridges replaced and repaired
· Higher quality chemicals purchased to prevent growth and disease on the greens.
· Dyke and drainage work still ongoing hoping to be complete for the season
· New tee currently underway on the 8th
· Working with a local company to supply artificial grass the new tee on 8th and the competition tee on the 5th .
The club has spent over £35K more than usual last year on investments on the course and with in the clubhouse.
With your continued support this will continue!
Memberships
· Currently staying the same price as last year
· LGU fees will be collected at the same time as memberships. This will keep the process easier to control, rather than committee members trying to collect from members.
· If you pay your fees via Standing Order you will be contacted over the coming weeks to move over to Direct Debits. This scheme will be provided via a 3rd party finance company.
The club has decided on this route for several reasons, mainly for the time saved in checking and chasing payments made to us. The main reason though is the club can properly budget for the year, lost monies due to non payers will now not happen.
The two companies we are going to use have worked within the golf sector for over 20 years.
Play more golf – flexible membership
The flexible membership will run alongside our current membership and is not meant to replace it. The scheme is a nationally run one with over 200 clubs taking part.
It is aimed at golfers who can't justify a full membership for whatever reason. In simple terms a flexible member buys 80 points from the club, we deduct points for each game played until the member uses them all. More details can be found on our website or from the Pro Shop - but if you feel you hardly used your membership last year then this could be ideal solution. 80 points will cost £280 from 1st April.
Functions & Events
· We had a record amount of functions at the club, and whilst they do affect members we have tried to minimise the disruption they may have caused.
Please bear in mind however functions are essential to the success of the club. Revenue from the events we host are spent back in the club and course, without which many of the investment mentioned above would not have happened.
· Following on from the massive success of our outdoor music event in August last year we are doing it again! August bank holiday will see us host a full weekend of music, complimented by holding open golf competitions in the day of each event. 2 acts are already confirmed with discussions being held with the third and final act.
Club house and fundraising
· The new clubhouse is very much on the agenda, and whilst it may seem to you to have gone quiet, I can assure you this is not the case.
It is clear we will not raise the funds solely from fundraising. That being said if we can achieve £50-£70K then we would look at financing the remaining amount ourselves.
The 50/50 draw is still on going, although number have dwindled of late. Currently we have £??? in the fund raising account.
· Furthermore, work is on going behind the scenes working with the council and professional bid writers to assist the club in applying for and winning grants that are available to us. Monies raised from these grants could include the following,
Buggy paths to help with golf all year round,
Junior golf development,
Club house development.
· The council have also invited us to be a part of their new Wyre lottery which they will be lunching in the next couple of months. More news of this to follow - but could see us raise funds for the course through this.
Finally, I would like to thank the committee and yourself for the support in the last year and look forward to this year’s season.
Special thanks to:
Main committee

· Secretary Simon Rourke
